Bonnie will facilitate our discussion of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize winning book Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. This modern retelling of David Copperfield is set in rural southwestern Virginia and examines systemic, cyclical poverty and its effects on every generation living within it. Though it comes with content warnings for domestic violence, childhood neglect, and drug abuse, it is a worthwhile reading and an excellent, accurate glimpse of another way of life.
